Job Purpose – What You Will Do
The Senior Data Architect plays a vital role in ensuring the efficient, secure, and reliable operation of our databases and data systems. They directly contribute to improving data accessibility for our staff and others, as well as safeguarding sensitive data.
The Senior Data Architect builds and orchestrates data pipelines and finds clever solutions to complex data challenges throughout the organization. They implement, maintain and continuously improve our RDBMS systems, analyzing performance trends to identify opportunities for improvement.
Core Responsibilities
Database and Data Systems Management:
- Build and manage our data pipeline and data storage system
- Develop and maintain scripts for the automation of database tasks
- Monitor database performance and optimize for efficiency and scalability
- Monitor systems and diagnostics
- Orchestrate ETL pipelines, integrate APIs and 3rd party data sources
- Create and maintain materialized views, views, CTEs, subqueries, routines, and extensions in service of the most efficient data use further downstream.
- Ensure our data systems are functioning in a manner that best serves our data needs for reporting and decision-making
Data Operations & Strategy:
- Collaborate with the Data Analyst to ensure data is surfaced in a way that allows for efficient analysis and visualization
- Define, document, and maintain data protocols across the organization to promote and measure data integrity and consistency
- Collaborate with other teams to integrate data across multiple systems
- Translate data-related requirements into effective database solutions
- Collaborate on the development and implementation of data governance policies and procedures to ensure data integrity and compliance with regulations.
- Continuously research new database and data systems technologies, products, services, protocols, and standards in support of platform design, data delivery, management efforts and improvements.

Education & Experience Requirements
- 7+ years of data engineering
- Technical proficiency:
- SQL (advanced)
- PostgreSQL (advanced)
- Python (intermediate)
- git (intermediate)
- dbt (intermediate)
- Use of database tools such as materialized views, routines, extensions, and query profiling to prepare and optimize data for various use cases
- Data and data system documentation best practices, including but not limited to: ERDs, data dictionaries, workflow diagrams, and data stacks
- Troubleshooting and solving complex issues within databases, data pipelines, schemas, and warehouses
- Optimizing performance through testing and ongoing real-time monitoring
- Data security best practices and disaster recovery procedures.
Preferred
- Bachelor’s degree
- Experience working in a remote, virtual environment
- Experience with AWS
Other Requirements
- 10% - The role may require occasional travel, usually for meetings, training, or conferences.

At Healthier Generation, each position is aligned with a salary grade determined by market data. For this position, the targeted salary is $114,300.
