What You Will Do

The HR Generalist I is a key contributor to Healthier Generation’s HR operations, supporting essential functions including HRIS management, payroll, benefits, compliance, recruitment, onboarding, and employee engagement. This role ensures accurate HR transactions, maintains employee records, and delivers responsive support across the organization. Responsibilities include coordinating onboarding/offboarding, administering surveys, managing benefits documentation, preparing payroll, and supporting recruitment and compliance efforts. Success in this role requires attention to detail, discretion with sensitive information, and a commitment to fostering a positive, compliant workplace culture.

Core Responsibilities

Operations​ 

  • ​​Maintain employee records and ensure data accuracy in HR systems.

  • Support HRIS updates, audits, and reporting needs, using Paylocity and other systems.

  • Coordinate onboarding and offboarding logistics.

  • Respond to employee inquiries and escalate issues as needed.

  • Post updates, resources, and announcements to SharePoint for employee access and visibility.

  • Administer internal surveys and track participation to support operational improvements.​

​​Payroll and Benefits Administration​ 

  • ​​Prepare and process employee pay accurately and on schedule, using Paylocity.

  • Maintain payroll records and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.

  • Manage deductions for benefits, taxes, and retirement contributions.

  • Respond to payroll-related inquiries and resolve discrepancies promptly.

  • Collaborate with internal partners like Finance, to ensure data accuracy and reporting alignment.

  • Respond to employee inquiries regarding benefits, eligibility, and coverage.

  • Process life changes and ensure timely documentation. 

  • Reconcile benefit invoices and resolve discrepancies with vendors. 

  • Support leave of absence requests by guiding employees through the process, coordinating documentation, and tracking leave status and return-to-work dates.

  • Support open enrollment and benefit coordination activities.

​​Recruiting ​ 

  • ​​​Post job openings across internal and external platforms.                                                    

  • Schedule interviews and coordinate with hiring teams.                                                          

  • Prepare and send offer letters and background check forms.                                                                

  • Run background checks and track completion.                                                                    

  • Conduct reference checks for selected candidates.                                                                      

  • Disposition candidates in the applicant tracking system

​​Compliance​ 

  • ​​Update and display required labor law posters across all office locations to ensure legal compliance. 

  • Monitor and manage the compliance inbox by responding to inquiries and escalating issues. 

  • Support payroll and tax-related compliance as needed. 

  • Maintain organized and up-to-date employee files. 

  • Support policy implementation and adherence activities.​

 Education and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience in related field​ 

  • 3 years of experience in Human Resources

  • 1 year of experience in multi-state payroll

 

Other Requirements

  • PHR or SHRM-CP certification is desirable but not required

  • Paylocity experience preferred​

At Healthier Generation, each position is aligned with a salary grade determined by market data. For this position, the target salary is $69,800.
