Job Purpose – What You Will Do

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Data Manager to oversee our data management processes and drive operational excellence. You will support and lead projects related to data, analysis, and training support across the organization, and manage data workflows and data collection practices, ensuring data integrity. You will complete analyses of internal and external data to support the growth and sustainability of Healthier Generation’s body of work specific to funder and organizational needs, leveraging analytics to support reporting and decision-making across the organization. The Data Manager will act as resident expert on our data collection systems and will train and educate staff on the utilization of those systems. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in data operations, strong analytical skills, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work collaboratively across departments.

Core Responsibilities:

Data Management (30%)

  • Oversee the collection, organization, and maintenance of data across various systems including training staff and establishing entry/collection processes when needed.

  • Ensure data accuracy and integrity through regular audits and quality assurance processes.

  • Implement and enforce data governance policies and best practices.

  • Use the Microsoft CRM dashboard tool to support access to data that solely lives within a CRM.

Data Analysis (30%)

  • Conduct data analyses to generate reports and dashboards to visualize data insights.

  • Develop and maintain reports that visualize data insights for interested parties (internal and external).

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address data-related inquiries and provide actionable recommendations.

  • Participate in pulling and/or preparing data for ad-hoc requests.

Cross-Team Communication & Collaboration (25%)

  • Coordinate, plan, implement, and/or maintain workflows, processes, and SOPs to support and implement data management best practices and principles within the Evaluation & Impact team and across other teams and departments.

  • Build strong relationships with internal interested parties to understand their data requirements and provide support.

  • Work closely with cross-functional/cross-departmental groups to understand data needs and provide support in meeting project goals.

  • Present analytical findings and recommendations to project teams and other interested parties.

Operational Support & Administration (15%)

  • Provide support on new and urgent data issues and requests where necessary, including potential funding.

  • Help streamline data workflows and improve data processing efficiency.

  • Collaborate with team members on QA in general, and to troubleshoot data-related issues.

  • Document data processes and procedures for future reference.

  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and automation within data management.

Education and experience requirements for this role:

  • Bachelor’s degree in data science, Business Administration, Information Technology, or a related field

  • 5+ years of experience in data operations, analysis, or a related role.

Required Skills:

  • Advanced Excel Expertise: Expert-level proficiency in Microsoft Excel.

  • Data Tools Knowledge: Familiarity with SQL, R, Python, or similar tools (preferred).

  • Data Management: Strong understanding of data management concepts, workflows, and governance principles.

  • Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills: Exceptional attention to detail, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.

  • Communication: Ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical audiences.

  • Collaboration: Strong teamwork skills with adaptability to fast-paced environments.

Specialized Knowledge:

  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).

  • Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) and data analysis software (e.g., SPSS, R, NVivo).

  • Familiarity with a CRM or other database systems.

  • Understanding of social determinants of health, health equity, and children’s health topics.

Other Requirements:

  • 10% Travel-The role may require occasional travel, usually for meetings, training, or conferences.

At Healthier Generation, each position is aligned with a salary grade determined by market data. For this position, the targeted salary is $84,600.
